US Sept trade deficit 84.4 bln usd, up 19.2% mth/mth

Wider than expected (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 05 Nov - In September, the US trade deficit for goods rose 19.2% month on month to 84.4 billion dollars, according to data released by the US Census Bureau.

Economists were expecting a trade deficit of 83.8 billion dollars.

Imports rose 3.0% to 352.3 billion dollars while exports fell 1.2% to 267.9 billion.

Year-to-date, the goods and services deficit rose 69.6 billion dollars, or 11.8%, from the same period in 2023.

Exports increased 84.7 billion dollars, or 3.7%; while imports increased 154.4 billion dollars, or 5.3%.
