Q1 unit labor costs rise 4.7% qtr/qtr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 02 May - Unit labor costs in the nonfarm business sector increased 4.7% in the first quarter.

Expectations were for a 3.6% rise.

This is the combined effect of a 5.0% increase in hourly compensation and a 0.3% rise in productivity, the Labor Department said.

Unit labor costs increased 1.8% over the last four quarters.
