US March wholesale inventories down 0.4% mth/mth

Sales down 1.3% mth/mth (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 08 May - US wholesale trade inventories fell 0.4% month on month to 894.7 billion dollars in March from the revised February number, according to data by the US Census Bureau.

The February 2024 to March 2024 percent change was unrevised from the advance estimate of down 0.4%.

Inventories were down 2.3% from the revised March 2023 level.

Sales were down 1.3% on a monthly basis but up 1.4% on the year.

The January inventories/sales ratio for merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers' sales branches and offices, based on seasonally adjusted data, was 1.35. The March 2023 ratio was 1.40.
