Up 8.3% yr/yr (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - 23 Apr - Sales of new US homes in March rose 8.8% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 693,000 from February's revised rate of 637,000, the US Commerce Department said.

Expectations were for sales of 668,000 units.

On the year, new home sales were up 8.3%.

The median sales price of new houses sold in March was 430,700 dollars. The average sales price was 524,800 dollars.

The seasonally-adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of March was 477,000. This represents a supply of 8.3 months at the current sales rate.
