In line with expectations (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 02 May - US factory orders rose 1.6% month on month to 584.5 billion dollars in March, the US Census bureau said.

Expectations were for a 1.6% rise.

Inventories were virtually unchanged at 857.7 billion dollars.

Shipments were up 0.3% at 583.3 billion dollars.

The inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.47, unchanged from February.
