US April unemployment rate 3.9% vs 3.8% (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Washington, 03 May - US nonfarm payroll employment increased by 175,000 month on month in April, while the unemployment rate rose to 3.9% from 3.8% the previous month, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.

Economists were expecting employment to increase by 238,000 units and the unemployment rate to remain steady at 3.8%.

The labor force participation rate, at 62.7%, was unchanged while the employment-population ratio was little changed at 60.2%.
