Russia, Ukraine agree to exchange 1,000 prisoners, meet again in principle

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 16 mag - Russia and Ukraine have agreed to exchange 1,000 war prisoners each in the coming days, Ukrainian Defense minister Rustem Umerov said after a round of direct talks in Instanbul.

If confirmed, the exchange would be one of the largest exchanges of prisoners of war since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The two delegations "agreed in principle to meet again," Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in a post on X.

The parties also agreed to share in writing the conditions.
