Japan Q1 large manufacturing firms' confidence 17 vs 16 in Q4 - BOJ's Tankan

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 1 apr - In the first quater, confidence among large manufacturing firms in Japan improved to 17, up from 16 in the fourth quarter, while in the non-manufacturing sector it was steady at 36, according to the latest quarterly Tankan survey released by the Bank of Japan.

In the June quarter, the index is seen falling to 14 for large manufacturing firms and to 29 for non-manufacturing firms.

According to the survey, large firms expect to increase fixed investments by 3.3% in fiscal 2026 from 10.9% in fiscal 2025, with a 2.7% rise in manufacturing from 12.3% ad a 3.6% increase in non-manufacturing from 10.2%.

One year ahead, large firms see output prices up 2.5% from 2.2% in the previous surey and see general prices up 2.2% up.
