Preliminary April services PMI 54.6 vs 54.1 in March (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - London, 23 Apr - In April, Japan's purchasing managers' index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector rose to 49.9 from 48.2 in March, according to preliminary data released by S&P Global and its partner au Jibun Bank.

The manufacturing output index rose to 48.1 from 46.4 and the PMI for the services industry grew to 54.6 from 54.1.

The composite output index, a weighted average of services PMI and manufacturing output, advanced to 52.6 from 51.7.

A reading above 50 signals expanding sector activity and a reading below 50 a contraction.
