French Q1 GDP up 0.2% vs Q4

Final domestic demand contributes 0.4 pts to GDP growth (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Paris, 30 Apr - In the first quarter, French GDP rose 0.2% compared with the fourth quarter, when GDP rose 0.1%, according to the first estimate by the statistics office Insee.

Final domestic demand, excluding inventories, contributed 0.4 percentage points to GDP growth due to the acceleration in household consumption, up 0.4%, and the rebound of gross fixed capital formation, up 0.3% after falling 0.9% in the previous quarter.

The contribution of foreign trade to GDP growth fell to zero in the first quarter from 1.0 point in the fourth quarter.

The contribution of inventory changes to GDP growth was negative again this quarter. It stood at 0.2 points after 0.9 points in the fourth quarter, Insee added.
