France May retail sales down adj 0.3% mth/mth vs up 0.3% in April-Bank of France

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 20 giu - In May, retail sales in France fell a seasonally and working-day adjusted 0.3% month-on-month, after rising 0.3% in April, according to data released by the Bank of France.

Food sales fell by 0.7% after the 0.2% decline in April and manufactured goods sales fell 0.1%, after rising 0.7% the previous month.

In terms of distribution channels, hypermarket sales fell 2.1% and those in supermarkets dropped 1.8%, while sales at department stores rose 1.0%, after declining by 2.4%.

Sales at small retailers were down 0.6%, after increasing by 0.1%.

In the three months to May, overall turnover in retail trade rose 0.4% from the previous three months, with manufactured.

goods up 0.7% and food steady.
