EU April economic sentiment 96.2, down 0.3 pts (Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Brussels , 29 Apr - In April 2024, economic sentiment in the eurozone fell by 0.6 points compared to the previous month to 95.6 while in the European Union it slipped 0.3 points to 96.2, according to data released by the European Commission.

In the EU, the marginal decline of the ESI in April reflected slightly lower confidence in industry and services, while retail trade, construction and consumer confidence remained broadly stable.

Among the largest EU economies, the ESI deteriorated significantly in France (down 4.8 points) and more moderately in Italy (down 1.3), while it improved markedly in Spain (up 2.3), Germany (up 1.5) and Poland (up 1.5). The ESI remained broadly stable in the Netherlands (up 0.3 points).
