Eurozone April CPI up 3.0% yr/yr vs up 2.6% in March

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 20 mag - The annual inflation rate in the eurozone increased to 3.0% in April 2026 from 2.6% the previous month and 2.2% in April 2025, according to data from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

The figure was in line with preliminary data.

The monthly inflation rate in the eurozone stood at 1.0% in April 2026.

For the EU as a whole, the annual inflation rate rose to 3.2% in April 2028 from 2.8% in March and 2.4% the year earlier.

The lowest annual rates were registered in Sweden (0.5%), Denmark (1.2%) and Czechia (2.1%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (9.5%), Bulgaria (6.0%) and Croatia (5.4%). Compared with March 2026, annual inflation fell in five EU member states, remained stable in one and rose in 21.

In April 2026, services (up 1.38 percentage points), energy (up 0.99 percentage points), food, alcohol & tobacco (up 0.46 percentage points) and non-energy industrial goods (up 0.20 percentage points) contributed positively to the annual.
