Canada Dec manufacturing sales up 0.6% mth/mth
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Milano, 16 feb - Following two consecutive monthly declines, Canadian manufacturing sales increased 0.6% month on month to 71.0 billion local dollars in December, with gains in 12 of the 21 subsectors, according to Statistics Canada.
Compared to December 2024, total manufacturing sales were down 1.1%.
On a quarterly basis, sales edged up 0.2% to 213.1 billion dollars in the fourth quarter of 2025, the second consecutive quarterly increase.
In constant dollars, sales rose 1.8% month on month in December.
Total inventories posted their third consecutive monthly decrease, down 1.2% to 119.8 billion dollars in December.
The inventory-to-sales ratio fell from 1.72 in November to 1.69 in December. This ratio measures the time, in months, that would be required to exhaust inventories if sales were to remain at their current level.
Unfilled orders increased 0.4% to 114.4 billion dollars in December, mainly on higher unfilled orders of electrical equipment, appliance and component manufacturing.
