Record in first half 2006 for Borsa Italiana

More than 600 billion euro have been traded on shares since the beginning of the year

In the first six months of 2006[1], turnover on the equity market of Borsa Italiana have broken the previous record, reached in 2000, with a daily average of 4,8 billion  euro (in the first half of 2000 the daily average was 3,8 billion euro).

More than 600 billion euro have been traded on shares since the beginning of the year.

Also the IDEM, the derivatives market of Borsa Italiana, recorded in the same period a new all-time high with a daily average of 139,500 standard contracts; the previous record was set in the first half of 2005 with 104,100 standard contracts.

Since the beginning of the year on the IDEM have been traded more than 17.581.250 standard contracts.

For stock futures and stock options, respectively with a daily average of 41.700 and 62.200 standard contracts, it has been the best first half of year in the history of Borsa Italiana. 

Index futures and mini-futures reached, respectively, a daily average of 17.100 and 7.200 standard contracts, the highest levels in the last three years; for index options (11.300 standard contracts) is the highest value since 2000.
