Girard-Perregaux for the Bicentenary

On the occasion of Borsa Italiana's Bicentenary opening event,  the Chairman Angelo Tantazzi wanted to celebrate the anniversary giving to the President of the Italian Repubblic, Giorgio Napolitano, the copy n°1 of Girard-Perregaux Cronograph WW.TC Financial Milano, created for the occasion by the Swiss maison led by the italian entrepreneur Luigi Macaluso. The President of the Italian Repubblic thanked Borsa Italiana giving the present to the endowment of the Presidency of the Repubblic

The collection ww.tc di Girard-Perregaux is the first one to bring close financial world to high watchmaking thanks to a very sofisticated movement. In 2008 the Swiss Maison therefore celebrates Borsa Italiana Bicentenary, dedicateing a special edition : the ww.tc Financial Milano.

This watch show on its quadrant the indication of different time zones and the opening time of five financial centres: Milan, New York, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The system works through the use of two mobile disks that revolve round the quadrant: one bezel, that rapresents the 24 hours, is synchronized with the hour hands. A second bezel can be activated by the crown placed at 9 time. The crown shows the names of 24 cities and the exchanges opening times. Thus, when the red index shown on the hours bezel matches the blue line rapresenting Milan Bourse, that means that the Bourse is open. The automatic winding mechanism allows to combine these information with others: a cronograph and the calendar match with functions of hours, minuts and seconds.

Since 1808 and the decree which built "Borsa di Commercio" in Milan, the financial centre develops into national market and then into the international one.

This sofisticated watch is conceived in limited edition: ten copies are designed with a pink gold watch-case; fourty are steel designed. The pronounced features that characterizes this watch find balance between a light classicism and  a strong personality, also underlined by the large size of the watch-case of a 43 mm diameter. Girard-Perregaux suggests to match the watch-case with a crocodile strap, black for the steel one and brown for the golden version. The elegant style finish in that way the technical complexity of this model making a never-ending creation, set to last as long as the Bicentenary that it celebrates.
